HOW TO STYLE A 9,95 € DRESS | PART 1 - ELEGANT

Most of us have a limited budget and usually can't afford expensive designer clothes. Very often I receive your comments like "I never thought your dress is high street fashion, it looks like a million dollars!"

This encouraged me to start styling series on how to jazz up basic pieces.
Today I show you the first of 3 different looks of a basic striped dress I recently got at H+M for only 9,95 €.

A dressed-up look that is suitable for the office, a meeting or going out for dinner. 

I was already waiting at the checkout counter when I saw this dress. Stripes are a big trend this season, the fabric felt nice and comfortable, the size looked ok (I didn't want to go back to the changing rooms) and obviously the price didn't let me think about it twice!

Nur wenige Frauen können sich teure Designerkleidung leisten. Dafür bekomme ich sehr oft Kommentare wie "Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass Dein Kleid von H+M ist, es sieht richtig teuer aus!"

Heute zeige ich Euch das erste von 3 verschiedenen Stylings eines simplen, gestreiften Kleids mit Gummizug in der Taille, das ich kürzlich für 9,95 € bei H+M gekauft habe.

Ein eleganter Look für's Büro, ein Meeting oder auch zum Ausgehen.
Abends können die Pumps gegen hohe Sandalen und eine Clutch ausgetauscht werden.

Eigentlich wollte ich schon bezahlen, als ich den Ständer mit diesen Kleidern sah. Streifen sind sowieso Trend, es sah auf dem Bügel nicht schlecht aus und fühlte sich gut an. Anprobieren wollte ich es nicht mehr und die Entscheidung fiel mir bei 9,95 € auch nicht wirklich schwer!

FLORAL PRINTS ON A CASUAL FRIDAY

On a mild but windy and overcast day we quickly wanted to take some photos of my work outfit in the garden before it started raining.

Usually a blazer is part of my office look but since I didn't have to attend any meetings or host visitors that day I was able to chose a more relaxed look.

I am wearing a light floral tunic with a black ruffled skirt and my ZARA wedges which you have already seen in orange here. The skirt is a cotton-linen mix and unfortunately you can't avoid creases!

Ich kam gerade vom Büro nach Hause und wir wollten noch schnell ein paar Fotos meines Büro-Outfits machen, aber es war leider ziemlich bewölkt und windig und kurz bevor der Regen kam!

Normalerweise trage ich im Büro gerne einen Blazer zu Rock oder Hose, aber ich hatte weder Meetings, noch Besucher zu empfangen, sodass mein Outfit auch etwas legerer sein konnte.

Zur Tunika trage ich einen schwarzen Rock, der leider aufgrund des Leinenanteils sehr schnell knittert, was ich eigentlich gar nicht gerne mag, bei mir muss immer alles gebügelt sein! Die grünen ZARA Wedges habt Ihr hier schon in orange gesehen.

IN LOVE WITH EMERALD GREEN

One of my military friends has been promoted and naturally we celebrated this event!
For the invitation to his party I wore Emerald Green - the Pantone colour of 2013. I love this bright unique colour and usually I pair it with black or white as seen here.

This time I chose neutral beige accessories and instead of a blazer which would have been kind of stiff, I took my soft Pashmina shawl which I have for many many years!

The neck bow of my blouse doesn't allow any necklace therefore I went for bigger earrings which I just recently got together with the matching bracelet.

Einige von Euch wissen, dass ich beim Militär arbeite. Nun wurde einer meiner Kollegen befördert und das wurde natürlich gefeiert! Zur Party trug ich Smaragdgrün - die Pantone Farbe des Jahres. Ich mag diesen kräftigen Farbton unheimlich gerne und kombiniere ihn meistens wie hier mit Schwarz oder Weiß.

Dieses Mal habe ich mich aber für Beige entschieden und statt eines Blazers habe ich meinen wunderbar weichen Pashminaschal mitgenommen, den ich schon viele Jahre habe.

Zur hochgeschlossene Bluse passt keine Kette, daher trage ich neue, lange Ohrringe und das dazu passene Armband.

ETHNIC PLUS GOLD

After my return from Portugal (here, here and here) I still have a couple of days left before I will return to work. That means I am still on vacation - even it's home and in my own garden!

Besides wonderful tours and sightseeing in Portugal I couldn't resist some great shopping opportunities and discovered this ethnic inspired dress at Sfera, a Spanish brand. Unfortunately they don't have an online shop yet but they are expanding.
The relatively short length is a bit out of my normal comfort zone but on a nice day and maybe with a bit more suntanned legs...? What do you think?
And even braver - I paired the dress with my highest platform sandals which are surprisingly comfortable!

Nach meiner Rückkehr aus Portugal (hier, hier und hier) habe ich noch ein paar Tage Resturlaub zuhause, bevor ich am Montag wieder ins Büro muss.

Neben vielen traumhaft schönen Ausflügen und Besichtigungen kam natürlich auch shoppen nicht zu kurz. Bei Sfera, einer Spanischen Marke, die leider noch keinen online-shop anbietet (lt. website expandieren sie in andere Länder) habe ich dieses luftige Kleid mit einem Touch Ethno gefunden. Es ist etwas kürzer als meine gewohnte Länge, aber ich dachte, wenn meine Beine noch etwas mehr Farbe bekommen, könnte ich es mal versuchen... was meint Ihr?
Ich trage dazu sogar meine höchsten Sandalen ;-)

NOT LIKE A TOURIST - RED AND BLACK

ÓBIDOS

Another unique location I have visited during my stay in Portugal:
The preserved medieval village of Óbidos, 80 km north of Lisbon is one of Portugal's most interesting and picturesque walled towns with narrow lanes, museums, lovely restaurants and arts & craft shops. Don't miss the local Ginja de Óbidos, a very tasty cherry liqueur served in tiny chocolate cups!
I strongly recommend staying at the gorgeous Pousada Castelo de Óbidos - the historical castle transformed into a hotel.

It is not a cliché but the truth: Why do tourists dress in their typical look which almost screams out "Look at me - I am a tourist"?
Women with spaghetti tops and shorts no matter what age and size? Just because you are on holidays?
I am not talking about a day at the beach but for a visit to a cultural site, a cathedral or a city I prefer a light dress and have a cardigan or a big scarf handy to cover up if necessary.
Ok, I admit I didn't climb the paths in these sandals but I was wearing nude ballerinas;-)

Das letzte Photoshooting in Portugal haben wir wärend unseres Besuchs in Óbidos, einem malerischen, kleinen mittelalterlichen Dorf mit riesiger Stadtmauer und Burg etwa 80km nördlich von Lissabon gemacht. Wer Zeit hat, sollte unbedingt in der zum Hotel umgebauten Pousada Castelo de Óbidos übernachten!
Das typische Kopfsteinpflaster führt zur Burg hinauf durch schmale Gassen mit unzähligen kleinen Lädchen, die Keramik verkaufen und den superleckeren Ginja de Óbidos ausschenken, ein Sauerkirschlikör, der in kleinen Schokoladencups gereicht wird.

Ich bekomme jedesmal die Krise, wenn ich Touristen in ihrem typischen Look sehe...
Warum muss man im Urlaub jeglichen Geschmack außer Acht lassen und in Shorts und Spaghettitops rumlaufen, egal welchen Alters und Figur? Ich spreche nicht vom Strand, sondern einer Stadtbesichtigung oder dem Besuch einer Sehenswürdigkeit.
Es gibt herrlich bequeme, leichte Kleider - ich bin nun mal ein Kleiderfan - und ich habe ein kleines Jäckchen oder Tuch dabei, falls es z.B. für eine Kirche angemessen ist.
Die Sandalen hatte ich natürlich nur für die Fotos an - für das Kopfsteinpflaster und die Wege wären sie wirklich nicht geeignet gewesen!
